Michèle HAENNI est auteur et artiste. Née au Canada, elle vit aujourd’hui à Genève.

Après des débuts aux Beaux-Arts et en ethnologie, j’ai poursuivi une formation interdisciplinaire en arts multimédia et en création littéraire à l’UQAM (Montréal). J’ai abordé la questions de l’exposition et de l’archive du point de vue de la littérature comparée, à Genève, en travaillant sur les livres expérimentaux de Michel Butor. Je me suis spécialisée ensuite dans l’étude des formes de représentations numériques des textes, des images, de la vidéo et des médias sonores (Lausanne) et les humanités digitales (Oxford summerschool).
En 2007 j’ai co-fondé les micro-éditions insideoutbooks, un bureau de recherche et atelier de production de livres d’artistes avec qui j’ai publié de nombreux livres d’artistes sur l’autodafé, les photos de familles, passant de la mémoire au paysage avec des balades dans la forêt et dans les champs, ce qui donne un livre augmentés par l’arpentage sonore d’Antoine Läng ou une affiche qui récite un poème dans la ville. Avec une bourse d’écriture numérique de la Ville et du Canton de Genève j’ai pu imaginer une archive virtuelle participative, brokenobjects.net, faite de récits de fragments d’objets cassés, d’histoires sur la brisure et la mémoire. Depuis 2020, déclinantmon affection des allumettes et des poutres, je travaille sur une série de dessins grand format sur le bois coupé au crayon encre noir; des gravures; un poème-vidéo et des textes.

After beginning my studies in Fine Arts and Ethnology, I pursued an interdisciplinary training in multimedia arts and creative writing at UQAM (Montreal). I studied the exhibition and archive from the perspective of comparative literature in Genveva, working on Michel Butor’s experimental books. I then specialized in the study of digital forms of representation of texts, images, video and sound media (Lausanne) and digital humanities (Oxford summerschool).
In 2007 I co-founded the micro-publishing company insideoutbooks, a research office and workshop for the production of artists’ books with whom I have published numerous artists’ books on autodafé, family photos, moving from memory to landscape with walks in the forest and in the fields, resulting in a book augmented by Antoine Läng’s sound walk or a poster reading a poem in the city. With a digital writing grant from the City and Canton of Geneva, I imagined a participative virtual archive, brokenobjects.net, made of fragments of broken objects and stories about breakage and memory. Since 2020, declining my affection for matches and timbers, I have been working on a series of large format drawings on wood cut with black ink pencil; engravings; a video-poem and texts.
